Shah Rukh Khan’s Diwali-Christmas release, Dunki, continues its impressive run at the box office, surpassing the coveted Rs. 400 crore mark worldwide within its first 13 days. This accomplishment further cements King Khan’s dominance in 2023, having delivered three consecutive blockbusters with Pathaan, Jawan, and now Dunki.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the comedy-drama opened strong with a Rs. 29.2 crore net collection on its first day in India and has maintained steady figures despite facing competition from Prabhas’ Salaar. Dunki crossed the Rs. 200 crore mark in India and the Rs. 400 crore mark globally on the first day of the new year, showcasing its widespread appeal.
“Dunki’s performance is remarkable, especially considering the diverse mix of films on offer,” comments trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “Shah Rukh Khan’s star power coupled with Hirani’s heartwarming storytelling has resonated with audiences across demographics.”

 

While the film has performed well in metros like Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, the overseas collection also paints a rosy picture. Markets like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia have contributed over Rs. 100 crore to Dunki’s global tally.

Analysts predict the film’s strong momentum to continue in the coming weeks, potentially crossing the Rs. 250 crore  India and the Rs. 500 crore mark worldwide.
