Though his fan organization Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been performing social work for many years, Vijay stated in the lengthy formal statement that political power is necessary to carry out the same tasks in a comprehensive way.

We have a corrupt political culture and a dysfunctional government on the one hand, and divisive politics that seek to split people on the basis of religion, caste, and creed on the other. Both obstruct our forward motion. The statement said, “It is an undeniable fact that people, especially in Tamil Nadu, are eager for a shift in the political landscape and desire a selfless, honest, secular, and talented party to bring about a change.
He then added, “In this instance, I want to do everything in my power to support the Tamil community and the people of Tamil Nadu, who gave me my name, fame, and everything after my parents.”
